LAD: The Monroe Doctrine

One of the more famous documents in American History, it extends our neutrality on all things European. It spells out in detail what this includes and what it does not, especially after considering the vagueness of what both President Jefferson and Washington concluded about our Eastern neighbors. The Monroe doctrine, which was presented to Congress, was based mostly on the controversy over the land in the North Western part of the continent that was owned by the Emperor of Russia. the Doctrine specifically tells Congress that although we should stay out of foreign affairs, and European affairs, we should not let the sovereignty of our own peoples be infringed by European nations just to prevent war. Monroe believed that we should stay out of others colonies, and not try to expand into property not within the boundaries of the US, but not let those other nations come within our boundaries unjustly.
